An exhibit of paintings, portraits and mixed media by contemporary realist painter Luis Alvarez-Roure

“PRAESENTARE”, is a solo exhibit where the artist, through the range of his work, as well as working in different styles focuses on close observations that come to life in their facial expressions and poses. The Opening Reception, Friday, September 30, 6 – 8 p.m., will feature savory refreshments and is free and open to the public.


“PRAESENTARE” a narrative of the human expression in the real and fictional world as seen by the artist. The paintings are inspired by musical themes, poetry and mythology that have influenced and shaped Roure’s own vision and artistic journey. The majority of the sitters are among his friends, musicians, artists and family members. The exhibition presents twenty-three of the artist’s latest works. Some notable sitters on this exhibition includes the portraits of composer Philip Glass, latin jazz percussionist Cándido Camero and former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Paul Volcker, on loan from the Federal Reserve Collection, Washington, D.C.

About the artist –

Luis Alvarez Roure studied with Nelson Shanks at The Art Students League of New York and with renowned portrait painter Robert Alexander Anderson, his mentor and friend. He was finalist at “Figurativas 2015” competition celebrated at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, Spain.  He also won third place at the Faces of Winter 2012, juried by Steven Assael and was finalist at the Art Renewal Center and the American Artist Drawing Magazine Competition in 2011.  Luis’ artwork can be found on the cover of the book “Piano Lessons with Claudio Arrau”, American Artist Magazine, The Art Renewal Center and The Season 11 Manifest Exhibition Annual Catalog among others.  His artwork is on the permanent collection of the Museu Europeu d’Art Modern, Barcelona, Spain; The Federal Reserve, Washington DC; The Steinway Hall, New York, NY; Warren’s County Court House, Warren, PA; The New Community Corporation, Newark, NJ and in many other private collections through the United States, Australia, China, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain.
