An exhibit of paintings, portraits and mixed media by contemporary realist painter Luis Alvarez-Roure
Exhibit: September 26 – November 3
Opening Reception: Sept. 30, 6 – 8 p.m.
“PRAESENTARE”, is a solo exhibit where the artist, through the range of his work, as well as working in different styles focuses on close observations that come to life in their facial expressions and poses. The Opening Reception, Friday, September 30, 6 – 8 p.m., will feature savory refreshments and is free and open to the public.
“PRAESENTARE”– a narrative of the human expression in the real and fictional world as seen by the artist. The paintings are inspired by musical themes, poetry and mythology that have influenced and shaped Roure’s own vision and artistic journey. The majority of the sitters are among his friends, musicians, artists and family members. The exhibition presents twenty-three of the artist’s latest works. Some notable sitters on this exhibition includes the portraits of composer Philip Glass, latin jazz percussionist Cándido Camero and former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Paul Volcker, on loan from the Federal Reserve Collection, Washington, D.C.
“Alvarez Roure paints directly from his models and sitters, making close observations that come to life in their facial expressions and poses, always revealing a sense of life beneath the surface”
-Peter Trippi- Chief Editor of Fine Art Connossieur
“The rich subtleties of line and color need to be seen in persona.”
-Thomas Paquette- artist
