With the Fall season already in swing, The Pastel Society brings back bright, intriguing, and beautiful paintings that brings light in the changing season using bright colors that can warm one’s heart. There has been an enormous renewed interest in the use of pastels around the world. With the realization that pastel paintings have a long life, one only needs to see the works of Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt, from the Impressionist era. Just visit any art museum for proof of the endurance and value of the pastel medium.
The exhibition has a vast array of exuberantly colored paintings created on different surfaces. The viewer will be enticed into looking closely at the artist’s mark making, then stand back and enjoy a feast for the eyes.
Entrants from coast to coast were juried in by five qualified pastel artists from around the country, making this show a truly national experience. This unparalleled body of work was chosen with a variety of technique, style and subject matter. These artists are now part of the ever growing resurgence in the “Renaissance in Pastel.”
