Regional Artist: Katya Lebrija Unveils her donated works at Stamford UConn
On Wednesday, May 14 at 2:00 p.m. the University of Connecticut’s Stamford campus unveiled its first two donated art works in over 10 years. Dr. Sharon White, Campus Director and the artist Katya Lebrija accompanied by family members gathered along with several Art Gallery Board and departmental Staff members to celebrate the occasion.
The two paintings: “Hidden Pond” acrylic on canvas, 24”x30” & “Aspens” watercolor on canvas, 24”x36” are now each on display along with commemorative plaques. They can be seen on the 2nd floor hallway on the wall opposite the Biology Lab, room 2.05.
Last fall, in an effort to enhance the campus’ collegiate experience, the UConn Stamford Art Board was championed to acquire and display a permanent and conspicuous fine art collection throughout our lounges, offices and public areas. Shortly afterwards the Board communicated with former campus art gallery exhibitors by inviting them to consider donating one or more pieces of their art to the Stamford campus. All future gallery exhibitors will be invited to do the same. It’s our goal to build a permanent collection that will remain the property of the Stamford campus forever.
